Do you feel hurt and confused?
You may feel confused that someone you love, or once loved, is hurting you. You may feel ashamed or guilty that this has been happening for a long time. You may wonder if anyone will believe you, or if you will ever be able to tell anyone about your situation.
You are worried about your children, and you would do anything to protect them, even if it means you have to stay in a abusive and very unequal relationship.
These thoughts and feelings are normal, and maybe it is time to break the silence.
You have the right to live without physical, sexual, verbal, emotional, economic or material violence or the fear of such abuse. Most women think shelter services are only for those who are hurt and bruised physically – but in fact most of the women we help are subjected to psychological violence. If you are in doubt, or have questions, call us!
