Afghanistan
Danner has worked in Afghanistan since 2012, where a local office was established in Kabul. The main focus is on capacity development of shelter staff and professionals within the field of gender-based violence, including themes such as professional self-care, shelter methodology and shelter management.
The training programme has been rolled out across Afghanistan in Kabul, Herat and Mazar. Danner has, furthermore, supported the work of the national Afghan Shelter Network, ASCN, and assisted in facilitating its network meetings. The network helps build the professional link across the field and enables shelters and other organizations to work using the same theoretical and methodological foundation.
In 2018, the management of the project was officially handed over to the local office, and a separate independent NGO was established as Danner Afghanistan Women's Empowerment Organisation, DAWEO. The NGO is headed by Wahida Salaam, wsa@danneraf.org
The project is funded by the Danish Embassy in Kabul
