Since 2014, Danner has worked together with a number of Tunisian women’s rights organization to support and strengthen the collaboration in order to ensure a unified approach to eliminating violence against women in Tunisia. Danner works to strengthen the work already being done and support the Civil Society within the country.

Danner`s partner AFTURD (Association des Femmes Tunisiennes pour la Recherche sur le Développement)  is one of the oldest Tunisian women's rights organizations in Tunisia and has since the 1980s provided support and counselling to women and children exposed to violence. Today, AFTURD runs the first state-supported shelter in Tunisia, which opened in 2016. AFTURD is committed to sharing the valuable knowledge and experience that they have gained over the years with other organizations in Tunisia. Danner supports among other things this process. We do this based on our own experiences gathered from our regional MENA training program.

Together with AFTURD, Danner works with of the national Shelter Network in Tunisia. The Tunisian Shelter Network ensures a coordinated approach between the women’s rights organization within the field of gender-based violence as well as a highly needed focus on strengthening the link between civil society organizations and state authorities.

Danner’s regional office in Tunisia assists and helps facilitate the network meetings and its joint activities. For further information, please contact Danner representative, Meriem Ben Lamine, at mbl@danner.dk.
